Library Art Programs for Little Kids Ages 5-7

Classes are hands-on and last 60 minutes, including a PowerPoint presentation and time to create with expert guidance. Maximum 25. It’s Showtime! Paint Your Favorite Movie Character

Practice drawing some of your favorite movie characters, like Trolls, Minions and Jack Jack from The Incredibles. Then choose your favorite to draw on watercolor paper and paint using watercolor pencils under Christine’s guidance.


Let's Draw Robots

We'll read a story about robots, then practice drawing one together. Young artists will then create their own collage robots using paper and glue, with lots of room for creative variations.

Let’s Paint Dinosaurs

First we'll practice drawing different types of dinosaurs all together. Then choose which one to turn into a painting using watercolor pencils under Christine's step-by-step guidance.

Let's Draw Cars and Trucks

Join us for this fun art class. We'll read a story with many different vehicles, then practice drawing some of them all together. Young artists will then create their own drawings with lots of room for creative variations.

Let's Draw Animals

We’ll read Eric Carle's classic book Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?, then learn how to draw some of your favorite animals in the style of Eric Carle. 

Let's Paint Butterflies

Perfect for spring and summer! First we'll read a story about butterflies, then you'll learn how to draw and paint one to take home for yourself.  

Let's Paint Fall Leaves

We'll read a story about autumn and learn how to draw some common leaf shapes.  You'll choose your favorite to draw and paint on a large piece of paper.  Makes a great fall decoration for home!

Let's Draw Snowmen at Night

We'll read the fun winter story "Snowmen at Night" by Caralyn Buehner. Then students will create their own nighttime snowman pictures using oil pastels and collage.
